Another Day in Sayulita, with the first bold decision - no breakfast at Naty's today. But before taking this risk, I passed by the Iguana tree, which is a tree in which normally Iguanas can be found. I saw four of them hiding between the branches and leaves. Especially one was outstanding, because of its red color being placed on top of the tree. Recommended from the hostel staff and some other travelers I went to Chocobanana. Being directly at the central square in Sayulita, I was a bit skeptical regarding the number of tourists there and the quality of the food. But doubts without reason, My burrito with chorizo and eggs was tasty and the additional Americano fulfilled my morning needs.
On my way back I was passing the street and people were standing at a car taking pictures. While approaching, I realized, that dogs were sitting in the car like real persons, one on the driver seat, one at the co-driver seat, and one in the back. This picture really made my day, and I'm happy to share it with you, hoping it will make you smile as well.
Afterwards, I had my first Spanish group session - beginner level. We worked on the two Spanish words for 'to be', ser and estar, which was not new for me, but a good repetition and Gina took care to give more advanced students other, more difficult tasks during the lesson.
After the group lesson and another private one, I met with Samantha at Naty's for lunch and met Petra and Amadeus afterwards. Off to another session at La Isla. On our way, we passed a Graffiti artist who was just spraying the wall of a soon to be opened pizzeria. miguer._art was painting a huge mural of the tribe of the Huicholes pilgrim to Wirikuta a place in the desert of Chihuahua considered holy for this indigenous group. The pizzeria will be called Petra Pizza a la Leña if you're interested to see the finished mural. In addition, we had a quick stop at the local library, because Amadeus wanted to ask for a private Poem night to take place there with him and other creative minds.
Arrived in heaven I got a smoothie with 'red fruits', which is highly recommendable. Enjoying the time in the sun at the beach we spent more than 2 hours there and came first up with the idea of featuring Amadeus, which he got really excited about.
After the following Spanish session, Samantha and I discussed some things we learned earlier, especially directions and how to differentiate 'derecha' (right) and 'derecho' (straight). Thanks to Sam's smart mind I'll never forget how to remember them, because:
Derecha is female*because women are always right.
*pointing at the word ending '-a'
Well, nothing to say, discuss, or comment on.
For this evening we got some drinks in a local liquor shop and went to the beach. After a private Spanish session with the store owner, Sam went away with probably more knowledge than after the official Spanish courses. I tried one of the common drinks sold in shops consisting of tomato juice, which I did not really like, whereas the local craft beers I got were very satisfying.
The day ended with me crying... Being excited about a bowl of pineapple salsa at the street taco place, I put a lot in and wondered afterwards why I was sweating, crying, and only making the people around happy, laughing about me, even though I did not even put the spicy sauces in. The next day I was told, that the pineapple topping includes habaneros - cheers and good night Timo.
